In my latest article I talked about how the Flyers have been struggling on offense besides the play of Lindblom, Couturier, and Konecny. The Flyers are trying to produce a spark to the lineup, calling up Morgan Frost from the Phantoms. Frost, who has played exceptionally well in Lehigh Valley, is also tied for the team lead in points with 12, (5G-7A) in 16 GP. Frost got his first pro point on October 18th against Binghamtom notching 3 assists, and went on to have a 7 game point streak, which is the longest by any player on Lehigh Valley this season.
Frost gets his first recall of his NHL Career this season. Personally I think this is a great move by the Flyers right now, as they need help on offense, and this is the perfect fit. If the Flyers put Frost on the 3rd line with maybe Kevin Hayes or Sean Couturier, he wouldn’t produce or get the ice time, and probably play a 2nd PP unit. However today at practice, the Flyers had Frost with Giroux and Konecny on the 1st line, and Frost on the 1st PP unit taking Voracek’s spot, with JVR, Giroux, Frost, Konecny, and Provorov. Playing top minutes is key for Frost, as him and his linemates benefit heavily off that.
Frost will take Danny Briere’s old number #48, and he is the 8th rookie the Flyers used this season, which is a coincidence since they used 8 goalies all year last season. Frost will make his NHL debut on Tuesday at Florida, his family will be traveling from Toronto to be there as well. Hopefully the Flyers can get a win on Tuesday, as they now sit 5th in the Metro and 2nd in the Wild Card, one point behind the Hurricanes for 3rd in the division.
