Flyers vs Lightning Preview, Tampa on 9 game win streak coming into Philly

After the Flyers 3-2 win over Washington on Wednesday, the Flyers will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight (1/11/20). This is the second of a 3 game home stand. Coming into this game, Tampa Bay is playing like the team they were last season, scoring 13 goals in their last 2 games, while only giving up 2. They are currently riding a 9 game winning streak. Even though Tampa Has been winning, don’t let that fool you, because they have played some bad teams along the way. Montreal twice, Detroit, Ottawa and only 2 playoff contending teams in Arizona at home, and Carolina on the road. On the flip side, teams in this league do not win 9 games just because of a soft schedule, just something to throw out there.

As for the Flyers, Carter Hart will be in net versus Tampa Bay, coming off a better performance against Washington after he struggled on the West Coast road trip. Scott Laughton will be back at Center tonight, which gives the Flyers some more leverage at that position, since they called up David Kase from Lehigh Valley, and sending down Mikhail Vorobyev.

For me, if the Flyers play like they did against Washington, they should be able to pick up 2 points tonight. They have to get the first goal and stick with it, period by period. Tampa is a fast team, and have a good PP as well. Penalties are key tonight for Philadelphia. Washington was 0 for 5 on the PP on Wednesday and the Flyers had a very aggressive PK that resulted in a short-handed goal from Kevin Hayes. With Carter Hart in net at home, I think the Flyers will be just fine.
