Yetur Gross-Matos: Future pass rusher for the Eagles?

A position that the Eagles could look to improve this offseason is EDGE rusher. One of the main things the front office has to do is get younger and build towards the future. And since both, Vinny Curry and Brandon Graham will be 32 by the start of next season, it would make sense for the Eagles to pursue an EDGE rusher this offseason. Luckily enough this is a great year to need a guy that can come off the edge and blitz the QB, or stop the run.

This group from the upcoming NFL Draft has really good talent. The Eagles wouldn’t be able to get Chase Young, who is the best player in the draft. But they’d be able to get Penn State defensive star: Yetur Gross-Matos.

Yetur Gross-Matos is a very comlete EDGE rusher. He comes in at 6’5″ 266 pounds which is a good frame for an EDGE player. He has really good speed, he can rush the passer, stop the run and play both inside or outside. An accurate pro comparison for him would be Carlos Dunlap. Yetur had 40 total tackles and 9.5 sacks in 11 games this season. He helped Penn State finish with a 11-2 record including a Goodyear Cotton Bowl win over Memphis.

This would be an amazing addition for the Eagles, if the defensive line already has Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry, imagine how good it’ll be if they are able to land a guy like Gross-Matos.

In my opinion the Eagles should definitely look to improve the pass rush. It is getting old and players will start to get paid more than what they should. Yetur’s combination of good pass rush and run stopping fits perfectly into the Eagles defense.
