The main position of need that the Eagles need to fix this offseason is WR. Throughout last season, it was clear that the Eagles Wide Receiver group was very bad. Not only did they have drop issues, they also suffered a lot of injuries. The Eagles had 29 total drops last season, 5 of them came from Zach Ertz, their best receiving weapon, who’s a Tight End. Zach didn’t even had a great year, he had 88 catches in 135 targets and he had 916 yards.
This WR group from the upcoming NFL Draft is legendary, possibly the best ever. The Eagles hold the 21st pick in the draft, now before you lose your hopes at landing one of the top prospects like Ceedee Lamb, remember this. In the past 2 drafts, the first Wide Receiver taken was picked at 24. Also remember that nowadays teams value speed a lot, so there’s a big chance Henry Ruggs III is off the board before Ceedee Lamb.
Ceedee Lamb can do anything you want on a WR. He’s 6’2″ 203 pounds. He has an incredibly big catch radius, he can go up and make a 50/50 ball a 75/25 ball. His run after the catch is simply amazing, in the game against Texas, he was between 4 defenders at the 25 yard, and somehow managed to turn that into a Touchdown. He runs his routes very well, which is something that Eagles Wide Receivers struggled to do. Lamb finished with 62 catches, 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns in 14 games. An accurate pro comparison for him is Deandre Hopkins.
That is a perfect match! If Carson Wentz can throw for 4,000 yards with a Tight End being his top target, imagine what he’ll do with Deandre Hopkins 2.0.
If Ceedee Lamb is available at pick 21, the Eagles shouldn’t hesitate in taking him. The Eagles had one of the worst WR corps in the NFL last year, and if they want to contend for the next years, they have to change that. Of course they would have to hope that Ceedee is still available at 21, but if he is they have to take him. I truly believe that if the Eagles end up with him, the offense would become a top 10 unit.
