The season continues its delay as the world reels from COVID-19. This devastating virus has people of all walks of life concerned for there families health and livelihood. How do we lift our spirits until this nightmare comes to its conclusion? Food…. isn’t it always food? Citizens Bank Park annually ranks as one of the top five eat-in ballparks in Major League Baseball. Endless options and new menu items are added each and every year. The city of Philadelphia and its eclectic tastes are always prioritized at CBP. So sit back and close your eyes. Imagine you’re in your seat, beer in your cup and Harper is at the plate? What are you about to devour as he bashes a home run into the second deck of right field? I’m partial to a cheesesteak myself, but the iconic Philly sandwich is just one of the many mouth watering options you can sink your teeth into…. let’s dig in!

Bull’s BBQ Turkey

It’s amazing how a sandwich that looks so simple could be so delicious. Bull’s BBQ Turkey sandwich at at Bull’s BBQ is a fab favorite, and for good reason. Fresh sliced turkey seasoned in a special dry rub blend and smoked for who knows how long absolutely hits the spot. When it’s in your hands, it’s up to you how you’re feeling with your choice of sauces. The classic bbq sauce always hits the spot, but maybe you need something with a little kick like the Carolina Mustard. Just a few of the options you can top this bad boy with. Not to mention “The Bull” himself Greg Luzinski is almost always hosting at the front of this signature stand. Can you make it back to your seat before you take your first bite? Doubtful.

Questlove’s Cheesesteak

Note to you Vegan and Vegetarians out there, you don’t have to worry about just eating peanuts and cracker jacks at the yard. Questlove of the famous band “The Roots” created something especially for the meatless lovers out there. Made with “Impossible Meat 2.0”, topped with cheese sauce and there signature pepper relish on a long roll. Every palate at CBP is bound to pleased when you have options like that.

Donut Burger

Do you have a heart condition? You will once you visit Boardwalk Eats and get a Donut Burger. Yea that’s right, a Donut…. Burger. Two glazed donuts as the buns, a juicy beef patty, cheese, bacon, and a spicy cherry pepper jam to give it that jelly filled donut feel with a kick. Imagine taking a bite of this while Nola strikes out the side. Then imagine not being able to get up during the seventh inning stretch. Maybe wear elastic waist clothing to the park that day?

Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Wanna get out of the stands and relax in a restaurant setting, find your way to Harry the K’s and order yourself a Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Breaded and fried chicken breast topped with Vermont cheddar and an unique yet delicious bacon and Brussels sprout chutney like jam. You can get yourself away from the crowd but still enjoy the kind of food you love to love at the park during a ballgame.

The baseball experience is a special time for anyone. Whether it’s your first game as a kid sitting in the outfield with your glove ready for a Hoskins homer, or you are a season ticket holder, you can’t replicate the feeling of a major league ballgame. The sights, the sounds, and when you are at Citizens Bank Park, the smells and tastes. If you are the kind of guy or gal who gets a beer and a hot dog and hits, it’s understandable and there is nothing wrong with it. Next time though, keep an open mind. Since 2004, Citizens Bank Park has provided its fans with some amazing baseball. The food has been quite legendary in its own right. So let’s day dream of a simpler time ahead of us.
