The Philadelphia Phillies (3-4) beat the New York Yankees (9-3) on Thursday night at Citizens Bank Park, splitting the Phils second series of 2020.

This game was okay, the offense did a good enough job to win, and the bullpen finally held a team to less than three runs. Eflin’s start wasn’t bad, allowing just a two run single over four innings. He threw only about 60-70 pitches, which was expected considering this was only his second time out on the hill since March.
The Yankees made it a little iffy toward the end, as Gary Sanchez launched a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning off of Nick Pivetta. The Yankees mustered a double in the eighth, and two singles to put up a fight in the ninth, but closer Hector Neris was able to lock down the one run victory. Wasn’t INCREDIBLY impressed with anything, but hey, we got the win.

A look ahead:
The Phillies will stay at home for some action against the Atlanta Braves this weekend. It will be a four-game series, ending with a Monday night game. Definitely a huge series for the Phils.
Great win by the Phils. I don’t think anyone can complain about splitting a series with the Yanks.
