Wow! That was great. The Phils beat their division rivals 5-0 on a beautiful Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phils pitching staff FINALLY did their job from the starter to the bullpen. Arrieta (who I have been really impressed with so far), went six scoreless, with six strikeouts and only three hits and a walk. Great job. In mid-season form Arrieta easily would’ve gotten through the seventh tonight. After Arrieta, Jose Alvarez came in and got two outs in the seventh before Girardi handed the ball to Tommy Hunter. After struggling on Thursday night against the Yankees, Hunter went 1 1/3 scoreless. Four up, four down. Then Deolis Guerra (who has also struggled in 2020) came in and mowed down the Braves in the ninth for the win.

The offense was good tonight getting five runs across against the Braves. The starter tonight for Atlanta, Kyle Wright, had struggled through his first two starts this year, was mowing down hitters until the fourth inning when the Phils exploded for four runs, all coming on the long ball. Philadelphia got their fifth run after Didi Gregorius drove in Bryce Harper on an RBI single in the eighth. Even though the Phillies weren’t consistently scoring runs, they were getting solid contact on almost every hitter, striking out only four times. Some ground ball and line drive outs had exit velocities of over 100 miles an hour.
Scoring Recap:
Bottom fourth:
J.T. Realmuto hits a solo home run to left field, 1-0 Phillies
Jay Bruce launches a three-run shot to right center, Didi Gregorius scores, Jean Segura scores, 4-0 Philadelphia
Bottom eighth
Didi Gregorius drives in Bryce Harper with an RBI single, 5-0 Phils.
FINAL: Braves 0, Phillies 5
A Look Ahead:
The Phillies will play the Braves in a traditional double-header tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1:05pm, before they wrap up the series vs. Atlanta on Monday night.
Great win!
