With the uncertainty of this 2020 season, it has been up and down for the Eagles, who still are in the mix for the NFC East title at 2-4-1.
I would like to take a look at helping the secondary for 2021, as Jalen Mills and Will Parks will be unrestricted free agents this 2021 off-season. Lacking depth, I would suggest looking at bringing in another option at safety to rely upon. We head to the Missouri Valley Football Conference newcomers in North Dakota.
The starting safety is Jordan Canady, a 6’2 207-pound senior from New Berlin, Wisconsin. Jordan is a high flying playmaker and leader for the Fighting Hawks defense. This previous year, he recorded 87 total tackles (53 solo), 2 tackles for loss for 7 yards, 1 interception and 4 passes defended. He finished with the second-most tackles on the team behind Donnell Rodgers, the star senior linebacker from 2019.
Against the cream of the crop last year in rival North Dakota State, Jordan was all over the field making plays with good tackles vs now Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Ben Ellefson and star running back Adam Cofield of the Bison. His sideline range and sound tackling should raise some interest come draft season.
He has gone against some of the best the FCS (1AA) has to offer and has performed at a high rate. He kept up with the smash month teams in North Dakota State, Nicholls State, and Montana State, while also being marvelous vs high paced teams with air raid type offense in Eastern Washington and UC Davis. He reminds me of Daniel Sorensen, the current safety for the Kansas City Chiefs, as he will always make plays and will be consistent defending the run.
With another great year, I think Philadelphia should look at bringing in Jordan for a preseason spot at the minimum in 2021. He will most likely be a UDFA (undrafted free agent) come this upcoming April. Jordan could be a steal of a lifetime, but only time will tell.
